About José

Born to a small Salvadorean family, I have been raised in a hard-working environment and involved with honest and persistent people in a world of hardship and poverty since I was young. This ambient has helped me to develop strengths in myself such as being a good student and most important of all, being a good learner with persevering nature. I am a first-generation college student who emigrated from El Salvador. I attended schools in low-income areas. I studied at California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB) majoring in Spanish with a minor in Business, and I completed my Master's degree at San José State University in Spanish Literature and Linguistics.

Ever since I developed the process by which we acquire knowledge of the world and modify our subsequent behavior, memory, I can recall I have always wanted and dreamed of becoming a teacher to encourage, inspire and motivate students to fight for their dreams and make them a reality. This is the main reason why I chose to be part of Cristo Rey San José. I want to help kids, who like myself, come from low-income areas to achieve their goals through attaining a good quality education.

As a member of CRSJ team, I want to help kids that have potential, but a few teachers have seen it in the previous schools. I want to help those kids setting up educational goals and teaching them how to become better students and also to help them find ways that will help them learn more efficiently. As I mentioned before, I want to motivate our future generations through the classrooms to fight for their dreams. It is a miracle that I found a school that shares the same ideals as I do: at CRSJ we want to inspire students to keep on going with their education because a good education will help them have a better future in a world full of intellectual wonder.

In fact, as one of my heroes, Albert Einstein said, "the ability to open the boundaries of knowledge rests within the limits of education." Education gives us information about the past, so we can move forward with a better understanding of the mistakes we ought not to make. In my view, at CRSJ, we view education as the MOST important tool for every single human being, and that is why I decided to be part of the school and why I am still here. Education was the starting point of my current ambitions, and it has played a big part in my successes; nonetheless, I intend to pass on that truth to my students. Moreover, this personal philosophy is part of this wonderful community here at CRSJ.
