COVID-19 Precautions and Updates

March 25, 2020

School Principal Joe Albers was informed today by the Santa Clara County Health Department that school closures for all schools in the area have been extended to May 1st. This means that our Cristo Rey students will continue on-line distance learning until that time. We continue to miss all of our students and they and their families remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Cristo Rey Community,

In an abundance of caution, we have decided to start distance learning effective Monday, March 16th until Friday, March 27th. Important note that we have not had, to our knowledge, an exposure.

Corporate Work Study Program Update: The Corporate Work Study Program has also closed its operation per the guidance of the Santa Clara County of Health Department. Students will not have to complete make up days (MUD) nor will they be charged a fee to their tuition for these cancelations. If you would like to speak with the CWSP team, please don't hesitate to call 408-293-0425 x152.

Our staff will still be working to best serve your students and you as families during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Mr. Joe Albers

Dear Cristo Rey Community,

The emergence of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and its spread in the Bay Area has generated a great deal of news and questions over the last few weeks. The administration of Cristo Rey San José continues to monitor and address the potential spread of Coronavirus in our community. As the situation is evolving, we will continue to follow guidance from the Santa Clara County Public Health Department and  Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help keep our community safe.

Santa Clara County health officials have provided updated recommendations for businesses and schools relative to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Per guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, we will stay open until directed by the CDC to close. Officials recommend that schools stay open and students remain engaged in normal activities wherever possible.

With the utmost concern for student, staff and external stakeholders’ health and safety, we have postponed and rescheduled larger scale events. We will continue to provide updates on any and all scheduling.

The Corporate Work Study Program is working closely with our companies and following guidelines being provided which can vary by work site. At this point, there is not an indication of specific, increased risk and we are confident consistent supervision is in place, we will continue normal operations. Some companies have implemented broader remote work policies for regular employees and we are following advice to keep impacted students at school on their work days when a supervisor is not present.

We will continue to assess the situation and have plans in place for both work and school if our community is impacted.

Sincerely,

Dr. Margaret Higgins
