What are some extracurricular activities that you are participating in?
A couple of years ago I was the co-creator of our school's Social Justice Club and this year I am the co-creator of the Helping Hands Club. I am on the Varsity Basketball team and am on a Bay Area Teen Interfaith council.
What did you find interesting about Saint Mary's College?
Towards the end of the summer entering my freshman year the first graduating class of CRSJ visited Saint Mary's. This was the first college campus I had ever been on, the experience was foreign but amazing. This trip helped me realize getting into college was going to be a lot of hard work but would be worth it. At first I fell in love with their food but after embarking on a campus tour I learned more about the school. I was mainly interested in their Jesuit education, teaching program, and social justice driven community. It is an honor to be accepted with the $76k Gael Scholar Award and I am anticipating more financial information in the weeks to come.
What are your future career goals?
I plan to graduate college with a master's degree in child development, earn my Teaching Credential, and become a Special Education Teacher. I love helping others learn. My interest was sparked Freshman when I tutored elementary school children for my Christian service hours. I have been a summer bridge tutor for two years and currently tutor freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors throughout the week. I love getting any teaching experience I can get.
